First ever biometric verification for elections at the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA)

A team of 57 Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT) personnel including 55 students and two teachers (Dr. Waqar ul Qounain - Assistant Professor, Mr. Mian Mubasher - Lecturer) assisted in nation's first ever biometric verification for elections at for the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Saturday 28th February, 2015. Of the 19672 registered voters, about 7300 used their right of ballot. The Election Commission for LHCBA elections also allowed manual voting beside bio-metric vote casting. In total, 80 percent voters (5800 voters) used the bio-metric verification voting system that showed their level of confidence in the information and communication technology. PUCIT will continue to help the LHCBA in furthering this technology so that 100% voters cast their votes using the biometric verification based voting system in future.
