US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor PhD Scholarship Program Introduction ​​​​In June 2015 the United States and Pakistan established an Education, Science and Technology Working Group (ESTWG) under the Bilateral Strategic Dialogue discussed the proposal during the meeting of Prime Minister of Pakistan and President of USA to establish US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor. Both the dignitaries directed their respective governments to intensify their cooperation in this important framework to achieve the ambitious priority targets of developing high-level human capital envisioned in Pakistan's policy document Vision 2025. According to the Plan, ten thousand (10,000) Pakistani scholars will join US universities in the next ten years as an effort of the Government of Pakistan to train its faculty resources in identified subject areas. Phase – 1 of the plan approved by ECNEC on Jan 25, 2017, and revised later in August 2020 envisions to award 1000 Ph.D. scholarships to outstanding Pakistani students in US Universities under the project titled "PhD Scholarships under US – Pak Knowledge Corridor-Phase -1 (Revised)" The main objectives of the project are: To significantly increase the number and quality of faculty in Higher Education Institutions (HEI's). To enhance the research and academic capacity of the Higher Education Institutions of Pakistan by providing trained manpower who will improve the quality of instruction and innovative research. To train approximately 1,000 potential applicants annually for university entrance exams such as  GRE and TOEFL/IELTS under the "Talent Farming component" of the project. The program will develop a collaboration between Pakistani and renowned US institutions to transfer new research techniques focused on Pakistani needs. Scholarship categories: Category I – Scholarship (Top 50 QS World Ranked US Universities): For this category of scholarship, prospective applicants must have:​ Secured admission in top 50 QS World Ranked US University. Valid GRE – General Score (Minimum 300 in total) OR HAT Score (Minimum 60% Score)​ Category II -Scholarship (Top 300 QS World Ranked US Universities): For this category of scholarship, prospective applicant must have: Secured admission in top 300 QS World Ranked US University. Valid GRE – General Score (Minimum 300 in total) OR HAT Score (Minimum 60% Score). However, GRE – General or HAT Score is not required where admission is secured with complete tuition waiver​.​  ...

HEC Post- Doctoral Fellowship Programe

Introduction ​​​The project offers 1000 fellowships over a span of 5 years. These fellowships are offered on open merit at the national level. Seventy percent slots are reserved for faculty members of public sector universities and institutes, private universities are given 15 percent slots and 15 percent of these slots are kept for public sector R&D organizations (recognized by Pakistan Council of Science and Technology). Announcement: The programme is currently closed for intake. Interested candidates are requested to keep the following documents ready for submission of application on the online portal as and when the opportunity is announced. ​Research Proposal as per format (Click here to download Pdf format) (msword format) Valid Invitation/acceptance letter in the relevant field from top 200 QS world-ranked universities. The letter must be on University letterhead duly signed by the host supervisor/ authorized official of the concerned university clearly indicating the name of the host supervisor.  The letter dated within the last six months will be considered valid. However, the recipients will be required to ensure that the offer is also confirmed on the online portal as and when opened for this purpose. Host supervisor CV Updated/ accurate self CV Updated Profile on HEC online portal i.e personal profile, education, employment history, publications. Five years' recognized experience in the online profile at HEC in case of foreign PhD. NOC from relevant section(s) of HEC in case any scholarships/financial support/research grant (as PI or Co-PI) has been availed/ is being availed from HEC (Conditional NOC will not be accepted). Dear all, Commonwealth UK Fully Funded Scholarships 2023 in almost every field/major for Masters/MPhil & PhD in UK Universities are Open now. HEC is nominating agency for it You have to fill application forms on Commonwealth and HEC websites as well. The deadline to apply on HEC portal: 18 October, 2022 The deadline to apply on Commonwealth portal: 18 October, 2022 Apply on Commonwealth portal first (An advice) For now, what you can do 1) Go through the websites of Commonwealth Masters & PhD. See all requirements and fill up the forms by fulfilling the requirements 2) IELTS is NOT required at this stage. First, pass the evaluations by HEC (which is HAT test & may be Interview by HEC). 3) Minimum HAT score required is 60 out of 100. You must have taken HAT on or after January 01, 2022. If you have not taken HAT Test yet. Register for it by 11 October on HEC website here https://etc.hec.gov.pk/ 3) IELTS will be required later if you pass the test & interview by HEC & get nominated and selected by Commonwealth as well. Then you have to secure admission in Masters or PhD in session of September/October 2023 at UK universities. 4) For Master Scholarship, candidate by the closing date of application must hold a first-class/first division degree complete in all aspects in graduate qualification (16 years degree i.e. MSC/MA/MBA/BS/BBA etc) in the relevant field of study. For PhD scholarship, the applicant must hold a first-class degree in relevant postgraduate qualification (18/17 years MS/MPhil degree) in the relevant field of study by closing date of applications 5) For PhD applicants, you need to contact the professors at UK Universities and have at least a support letter or consent of him/her that he will be your PhD supervisor and you have to mention it in your online application as well. For Masters, no such thing is required   You can see "Choosing a university/course" tab on Commonwealth PhD website to find it   6) For Masters, you have to write UK university names in the application. You have to select UK universities by looking at their requirements if they will select you. You can write their names in case you get selected for CW; you will have to get admission there. Also, you can start this process early now also, but it will be useful only if you get selected by HEC, Commonwealth both.
