About this opportunity
We are looking for an Expert VMware & System Administration for the Pakistan location! You will be responsible for effective provisioning, Planning, installation/implementation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware (where applicable) and software primarily focused on VMware, Unix & Linux & Windows.
You will also be responsible for providing support to internal /external business units for their daily basis operational issues/ queries!
What you will do
- Key responsibilities covering hardware support, Linux/Unix & VMware administration.
- Installs, configures and maintains (OEM & non-OEM) windows, Unix / Linux Servers (mainly Centos, Redhat, SUSE, Ubuntu).
- Manage and apply Operating system patches.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware (HP ProLiant, Synergy, Storage, etc), server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Fix day-to-day system (OS Layer) issues to ensure system stability and throughput.
- Build RCA based on System problem /outage.
- Create, change, and delete user Management as per process/Control.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
- Responsible for leading Disk Level Management, Se-Linux, firewall, and Logs Management tasks.
- Coordinate and communicate to stakeholders with impacted Node/system.
- Coordinate with 3PP for analysis, activity planning, implementation, and execution.
- Responsible for building new Scripts for System Management & Monitoring.
- VM Migration task (cloning, VMotion, etc) and solve (console, installation)
- OS Level HA Configuration and implementation.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Monitor, Implement, notify and plan the Capacity Management of System Hardware /OS Layer resources
- Participate in new Projects integrations in terms of physical installation, scoping, installation, and integrations.
- Cloud Native integrations.
- Participate in customer meetings and follow up on Action items as per due timelines.
You will bring
- Hands-on experience working with containers (Docker) and orchestrators (Kubernetes, docker swarm, Marathon, etc.)
- Strong Hand-on experience on CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu, VMware (6.5,6.7, 7), and GFS file system.
- Good understanding of Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, DNS, and DHCP.
- Vendor Management, follow up, and coordination for hardware issues.
- Knowledge of open-source backend support sub-systems and tools (eg DNS, Grafana, LDAP, Ngnix, Apache, Redis, Zabbix, ELK, FreeIPA, etc)
- Knowledge of UNIX, Linux, and Windows-based high-end systems, with HA/Cluster and Disaster Recovery configurations.
- Enterprise-level working experience in UNIX, and Linux-based platforms with advanced level troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge and experience of storage technologies like SAN, FC, etc. as required to support a mission-critical IT Systems Infrastructure, and backup technologies i.e., Disk library, archiving solutions, etc.
- Should have a basic understanding of networking terminologies like Subnets, VLAN, Routing, and Switching.
- Should have basic knowledge & working experience on Ethernet & fabric switches.
