Role Purpose

The Global Database Administrator – Oracle is responsible for the architecture, design, planning, and overall management of data bases across FINCA including Transactional, Operational, Data Marts, and an Enterprise Data Warehouse. The Global Database Administrator is responsible for tasks such as the development of best practices, repeatable procedures, as well as day-to-day database activities. The incumbent will have experience of working with Oracle Server databases and excellent analytical skills.

Accountabilities

  • Orchestrates all Database Management processes and ability to make technical recommendations;
  • Develops strategy for proactive and preventative maintenance;
  • Develops processes and procedures formalizing routine database maintenance, performance monitoring and tuning;
  • Develops backup and recovery strategy and procedures for all databases;
  • Manages Oracle Database Systems and maintain enterprise OLTP, OLAP databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems;
  • Detects critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for performance improvement and document all architecture design and analysis work;
  • Conducts proactive and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of database related issues in support of critical day-to-day business operations;
  • Closely works with other DBAs, application administrators, development teams, and test teams to define requirements and develop solutions to complex problems;
  • Participates in the setting of objectives, strategies, plans, programs, performance standards/measures and procedures, as a member of the Global IT team;
  • Provides support in troubleshooting of problems, responsible for incident resolution within agreed SLA;
  • Manages database changes according to the Change Management process.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems required;
  • Oracle Database Certification desired.

Experience

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in managing Oracle server databases;
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of database internals and data structures;
  • Experience with database backup and recovery;
  • Experience with clustering technologies;
  • Experience with Core Baking Application or other financial business system desired.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Hands-on experience with database optimization and tuning;
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle database management tools;
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL, UNIX commands;
  • In depth knowledge of ASM and RAC architecture;
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills;
  • Good understanding of Support tools and Oracle diagnostics;
  • Thorough understanding of the Oracle database features;
  • Good knowledge on Unix, Linux and/or Windows operating systems;
  • Good hardware debugging skills;
  • Attention to detail, with ability to understand the bigger picture or context;
  • Ability to work and communicate in a multi-culture, diverse environment;
  • Ability to work varying hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required;
  • Oracle Exadata Cloud and On Prem;
  • Memory Management;
  • Enterprise Manager;

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English required;
  • Fluency in Russian is preferred.

Travel requirements

  • Availability to travel up to 10% of the time.

The position will be based in Lahore, Pakistan or Tbilisi, Georgia.
