Eligibility Criteria (M.Phil. AI & PhD AI)

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in Graduate Programs at Department of Information Technology, University of the Punjab

Besides general criteria for admission in graduate programs at the University of the Punjab, the Department of Information Technology will also apply the following criteria as well.

1- Eligibility Criteria for Admission in MPhil (AI):

The candidate must have 16 years of education, and must have obtained one of the following degrees (or their equivalent, as decided by the Equivalence Cell of University of the Punjab) from an HEC recognized university:

·         BS Computer Science

·         BS Information Technology

·         BS Software Engineering

·         BS Data Science

·         BS Artificial Intelligence

·         BS Cyber Security

·         MSc Computer Science

·         MSc Information Technology

Merit Formula:                                           As per basic criteria

3- Eligibility Criteria for Admission in PhD (AI) (after 18 years of education):

The applicant must have 18 years of education, and must have obtained one of the following MS / MPhil degree (or their equivalent, as decided by the Equivalence Cell of University of the Punjab) from an HEC recognized university with a minimum of 3.0 / 4.0 CGPA:

• Computer Science
• Data Science
• Information Security
• Information Technology
• Software Engineering

Admission Criteria:                                    Basic

Merit Formula:                                          As per basic criteria

To further remain in the admission process, the candidate is required to secure a minimum of 60% score in this test

Eligibility Criteria (M.Phil. CS & PhD CS)

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in Graduate Programs at Department of Computer Science, University of the Punjab

1- Eligibility Criteria for Admission in MPhil (CS):

The candidate must have 16 years of education, and must have obtained one of the following degrees (or their equivalent, as decided by the Equivalence Cell of University of the Punjab) from and HEC recognized university with atleast 60% marks or at least CGPA of at least 2.0 (on a scale of 4.0)

•  MS.c Information Technology

The following core courses are recommended to be completed before entering the MPhil(CS) Program:

• Analysis of Algorithms
• Assembly Language / Computer Architecture
•  Computer Networks
•  Computer Programming
•  Data Structures
•  Database Systems
•  Operating Systems
•  Software Engineering
•  Theory of Automata

A student selected for admission having deficiency in the above stated courses may require to study a maximum of FOUR courses, which must be passes in the First two semesters. Deficiency courses shall be determined by the DDPC (Departmental Doctoral Program Committee), before admitting the student.
A student cannot register in M.Phil. (CS) courses, unless all specified deficiency courses have been passed.

2- Eligibility Criteria for Admission in PhD (CS) (after 18 years of education):

Eligibility:
The applicant must have 18 years of education, and must have obtained one of the following MPhil degree (or their equivalent, as decided by the Equivalence Cell of University of the Punjab) from the HEC recognized university with a minimum of 3.0/4.0 CGPA:

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in Graduate Programs at Department of Data Science, University of the Punjab

Admission Eligibility Criteria for MS Data Science

A degree of M.Sc./BS (DS/CS) as per HEC curriculum. Students with sixteen years of education in following domains.

• Information Technology
• Software Engineering
• Computer Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Statistics
• Mathematics
• Bio-Informatics
• Business and Information Technology (BBIT)

Or its equivalent in the relevant subject from a Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized University (at least 16 years of education; 130 credit hours) are eligible to apply but they have to take following deficiency courses:

• Programming Fundamentals (Core Programming Course)
• Data Structures & Algorithms or Design & Analysis of Algorithms
• Database Systems

Admission Eligibility Criteria of PhD DS:

A degree earned after eighteen years of Education in the following computing disciplines from an HEC recognized University with a minimum of CGPA 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 or 60% marks:

• Data Science
• Computer Science
• Software Engineering
• Information Technology
• Computer Engineering

the synopsis to DPCC and ASRB for approval.

• Tools and Techniques for Data Science
• Statistical and Mathematical Methods for Data Analysis
• Machine Learning

Required Documents for MS/M.Phil/PhD Admissions:

Students that have appeared in the merit lists of  M.Phil/PhD Admission Fall 2021 are required to submit the following documents (original) in Admission Office. The challan form for payment of fee will be issued after the submission of these documents:

      2. Intermediate
      3. BS/M.Sc
      4. M.Phil in case of Admission in PhD
      5. Undertaking Form (Take a Print out of this form on Rs 50/- Stamp paper, duly attested by Magistrate /  Grade-1 civil judge)
      6. NOC for candidates of universities other than Punjab University. (Aspirant students are advised to start the process of taking NOC)
      7. Equivalence Certificate for the students of universities other than Punjab University.
      8. Copy of CNIC
      9. Medical Certificate ( on letter head of Registered medical Physician)
      10. 4 Pictures with blue background
      11. Please bring your Signed Original Admission Form for Submission.

Note: Please submit copy of paid chalan form in Admission Office.
