Mini Olymipics

OC VS NC FACULTY MATCH

One of the best traditions of FCIT mini Olympics is annual faculty match, as always this year's match was another exciting chapter of this rivalry.

OC batted first. Dr Murtaza Yousaf put on a clinical display of power hitting, his shots over long off and straight were a sight to behold and OC smashed 100 runs in 1st 3 overs itself, such was the severity of the carnage. NC pulled things back with some tight overs and OC set a final target of 118 in 5 overs.
OC started brilliantly with the ball as Dr Shehzad Sarwar bowled a brilliant over. Then Dr Faisal Bukhari and sir Abdul Mateen hit some amazing shots and tried to up the tempo but another clutch over from Sir Fareed Baig sealed the deal for OC. When the last ball was delivered, students of OC jumped to the crease and celebrated the win in spectacular style.

Mini Olymipics

Sports Week Day 01 to 03

Event Date : 16th March,17th March, 18th March

Day 1 16th March

The day started with the recitation of the Qur'an. Gratitude was expressed for a Mini Olymipics event after two long years. All students paraded the main ground in organized groups. They afterward recited the national anthem before dispersing to groove to some upbeat tunes. The event went full swing afterward. Although it was unusually hot for March, the zeal of the players was insurmountable. A plethora of games was played this Wednesday, from Ludo to Rifle Shooting. In the afternoon, the students sang along and danced to catchy tunes and enjoyed themselves. There was a beautiful mix of culture, happiness and inclusivity. There was a sense of joy when the students sang the chorus of "Dilaan Teer Bijaa" in unison. It was a revitalizing experience in a balmy afternoon. At 5 pm, it was called a day. Best of luck to all the participants and bravo to the management team!

2nd Day 17th March

The 2nd day was also filled with the same exuberant vibes as 1st day. The main attraction of 2nd day, was the Faculty Cricket Match in which professors from both campuses proved their mettle. The crowd went wild, as the sixes soared through the sky and the momentum kept shifting. In the end, OC faculty came out victorious, by a huge margin.

3rd Day 18th March

It was Day3,but the enthusiasm still felt like Day1. We stood still for just a min and saw so many vibrant faces, screaming with joy, laughing, enjoying, supporting their teams, celebrating the victories and making memories that they'll cherish for a lifetime. Squid game, was the most dominant game of the day. Before game, everyone was kept in dark but once the game started,it drew attention of the whole campus. Our cameras smiled with your laughs, our apertures captured your winning moments, our hearts are filled with your enthusiasm. We witnessed when you were bringing life to the tired days!

Our growing dependence on increasingly complex computer and software systems necessitates the development of formalisms, techniques, and tools for assessing functional properties of these systems. One such technique that has emerged in the last twenty years is model checking, which systematically (and automatically) checks whether a model of a given system satisfies a desired property such as deadlock freedom, invariants, and request-response properties. This automated technique for verification and debugging has developed into a mature and widely used approach with many applications. Principles of Model Checking offers a comprehensive introduction to model checking that is not only a text suitable for classroom use but also a valuable reference for researchers and practitioners in the field. The book begins with the basic principles for modeling concurrent and communicating systems, introduces different classes of properties (including safety and liveness), presents the notion of fairness, and provides automata-based algorithms for these properties. It introduces the temporal logics LTL and CTL, compares them, and covers algorithms for verifying these logics, discussing real-time systems as well as systems subject to random phenomena. Separate chapters treat such efficiency-improving techniques as abstraction and symbolic manipulation. The book includes an extensive set of examples (most of which run through several chapters) and a complete set of basic results accompanied by detailed proofs. Each chapter concludes with a summary, bibliographic notes, and an extensive list of exercises of both practical and theoretical nature.

Think Like a Monk

Train Your Mind for Peace and Purpose Every Day Hardcover

Illustrated, September 8, 2020 by Jay Shetty (Author)

Jay Shetty, social media superstar and host of the #1 podcast On Purpose, distills the timeless wisdom he learned as a monk into practical steps anyone can take every day to live a less anxious, more meaningful life. When you think like a monk, you’ll understand:
-How to overcome negativity
-How to stop over thinking
-Why comparison kills love
-How to use your fear
-Why you can’t find happiness by looking for it
-How to learn from everyone you meet
-Why you are not your thoughts
-How to find your purpose
-Why kindness is crucial to success
-And much more...

Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others. Heavily in debt, and with no recognizable skills on his resumé, he moved back home to north London with his parents. Shetty reconnected with old school friends—many working for some of the world’s largest corporations—who were experiencing tremendous stress, pressure, and unhappiness, and they invited Shetty to coach them on well-being, purpose, and mindfulness. Since then, Shetty has become one of the world’s most popular influencers. In 2017, he was named in the Forbes magazine 30-under-30 for being a game-changer in the world of media. In 2018, he had the #1 video on Facebook with over 360 million views. His social media following totals over 38 million, he has produced over 400 viral videos which have amassed more than 8 billion views, and his podcast, On Purpose, is consistently ranked the world’s #1 Health and Wellness podcast. In this inspiring, empowering book, Shetty draws on his time as a monk to show us how we can clear the roadblocks to our potential and power. Combining ancient wisdom and his own rich experiences in the ashram, Think Like a Monk reveals how to overcome negative thoughts and habits, and access the calm and purpose that lie within all of us. He transforms abstract lessons into advice and exercises we can all apply to reduce stress, improve relationships, and give the gifts we find in ourselves to the world. Shetty proves that everyone can—and should—think like a monk.

    ABOUT
There is an increasing demand for engineers to improve the design of engineering products to stay competitive with competitors, especially in the current era of high-performance computing and abundant data. Engineers then resort to optimization techniques to help them find high-performance solutions and uncover salient design insight and features. Optimization techniques have been constantly evolving to adapt to modern engineering practices, challenges, and complexities. Especially in this age of data, mastery of optimization for engineering design has never been more important than before. The dawn of machine learning has also enabled a more efficient data-driven optimization by aiding optimization techniques to rapidly discover insight and knowledge from data. The intertwine between computer simulations, experimental data, and data-driven methods is now one of the building blocks of modern engineering. Fluency in optimization and machine learning is then becoming an important skill that must be possessed by students, practitioners, and researchers in design optimization to take advantage of the abundant amount of data.

HEC has been investing major budget in the human resource development to develop PhD faculty for Universities since its inception but due to increase in the DAIs and student population in the higher education sector, overall percentage of PhD VS Non-PhD faculty remains the same. Nevertheless, accessibility, quality, publications, R&D activities and ranking of the universities increased at national and international level. To improve the percentage of PhD VS Non-PhD faculty, continuous development funding / new schemes are required
Following outcomes are expected through this program 1800 PhD Scholars will be trained in the strategically important fields of knowledge which are identified by the Focus Groups of academia, industry and R&D personnel in the following way:
These talented students will complete PhD from top notch universities of the world, who will serve Pakistan for the improvement of quality of teaching and research in institutions.
Linkages at institutional, academia and people to people level will be established and further strengthened.
