Punjab University joined the Knowledge Streams University Alliance
Supporting the development of IT professionals, Punjab University joined the Knowledge Streams University Alliance. Through an MoU signed between University of the Punjab and KnowlEDGE Streams at the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) Campus of Punjab University, the two organizations pledged to work together to design, develop, and deliver cutting-edge IT training programs that meet the needs of the industry. The partnership aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to excel in the IT industry and bridge the skills gap that exists in the market.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Niaz Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, appreciated the programs of KnowlEDGE Streams to bridge the University – Industry divide, under the leadership of its CEO, Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi . Advisor Knowledge Streams Dr. Naveed Malik, who is also the founder of FIT (formerly PUCIT) was also present, together with Dr. Shahzad Sarwar, Dean of FIT, who will oversee the implementation of alliance objectives at Punjab University.
This partnership marks a significant milestone for both organizations as the 12-week immersive bootcamp in various technical specialization verticals in high-demand by the IT industry, also ensures that 1/3rd of the time is devoted to the development of soft skills. The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is an algorithmic programming contest for university students. In which, students have to solve real-world problem. Quite simply, it is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world.
ICPC Pakistan region onsite round held in Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) on 26th February, 2023. All the major IT universities has participated in the event including GIKI, Habib University Karachi, Fast Karachi, Fast Lahore, Fast Islamabad, Fast Peshawar, Muhammad Ali Jinnah University Karachi, IBA Karachi, Punjab University Lahore, University of Central Punjab Lahore, Capital University Islamabad.
Punjab University teams, comprised of students from the Faculty of Computing & Information Technology (FCIT), has won third-position in the event. Punjab University has won one-gold and one-silver medal.
Moreover, our alumni MS. Ayesha Sadeeqa has participated as Judge in the event.
Our faculty member assistant professor Mr. Abdul Mateen has received the ‘best coach’ award.

University of the Punjab for organizing a half day (Thursday dated 02.03.2023 at 10:00 - 13:30) at Al-Razi Hall, Quaid-e-Azam Campus on educational exhibition jointly organized by Russian Center for Science and Culture, Karachi and the following five state Russian universities. The honourable Vice Chancellor, PU will preside the event. In the seminar, the representatives of Russian State Universities will jointly present the opportunities and procedure to apply for scholarship / higher studies in Russian Universities followed by question-and-answer session.
