Punjab University Department of Computer Science’s Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad HassanKhan recently presented his latest research at 9th international conference

Punjab University Department of Computer Science's Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Hassan Khan recently presented his latest research at 9th international conference on Multimedia System and Signal Processing held at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. This prestigious conference published by ACM and focused on various issues of Multimedia Systems and Signal Processing in which Dr. Khan addressed the significant topic of Deepfakes detection. In his talk, Dr. Khan highlighted the issue of Deepfakes in media industry. Deepfakes are synthetically generated images or videos in which a person’s body parts (e.g., face) are replaced with someone else. Such visual content can be used to easily deceive human beings. Hence, it becomes very difficult to distinguish between the real and the bogus content by having a glimpse of the images. In his research, Dr. Khan has presented a framework to automatically detect the fakeness in digital images. His proposed methodology is based on a simple yet effective deep learning model for the detection of falseness in the images precisely and efficiently. Dr. Khan thank the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood and Dean Faculty of Computing & Information Technology Prof. Dr. Shahzad Sarwar at University of the Punjab, for their support to conduct this research. This research was partially supported by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan within the NRPU project “HumCare: Human Activity Analysis in Healthcare” (grant number: 15041).

M-Labs Summer Program 2024 | Applications Open Now!

Mindstorm Studios has embarked on a mission to catalyze game building in Pakistan. In 2020, the studio conducted its first Summer Internship Program, which till date has received an amazing response of over 6000 applications making it the biggest industry-led initiative in Pakistan. Continuing on the success of last years' program, we are pleased to announce the Summer Program 2024. 

The Summer Program exposes the students to the game building pipeline including game development, game design and game arts. Through various online live training sessions students would have access to industry experts to learn from. The two months of the program would entail:

Month 1: Exposure to game design, programming and arts through various activities.
Month 2: PARTICIPATION IN ROOKIE GAME JAM 2023, PAKISTAN'S LARGEST GAME JAM FOR STUDENTS

To put learning to practical use, the program also includes mandatory participation in an event called the Rookie Game Jam, in which participants produce a mobile game from scratch. This provides them with the right exposure essential to carve a career and excel in the $220 billion global gaming industry.

PUCON ’24

PUCON '24 took place at the old campus of FCIT, overseen by the esteemed Dean, Engrr. Dr. Shahzad Sarwer, from February 16th to 18th. This grand event featured seven IT competitions: Speed Programming, Web Hackathon, App Competition, Artificial Intelligence, Game Design, UX/UI, and Capture the Flag. Approximately 250 teams from various universities participated, totaling over 500 students. Alongside Punjab University, participating universities included FAST-NU, Superior University, University of Central Punjab, Comsats, Information Technology University, University of Management & Technology, Beaconhouse, and Air University Islamabad. Additionally, Sundar Stem School participated and showcased outstanding performance in the Speed Programming Competition.
