FCIT SHINES IN NCEAC ACCREDITATION

Assalamualaikum,

Alhamdulillah ! Allah is very kind.

With immense pleasure and gratitude to Almighty Allah, I am deeply thrilled to announce - we have been ACCREDITED by NCEAC again. Indeed, on account of this brilliant achievement it is most definitely a big day in our institutional history – finally, a dream come true – after a long time.

Getting our programs accredited is actually a strong testimony of our quality of education, smooth processes, and research outcome, which was equally praised by the accreditation inspection team members. This success is an outcome of hard but right decision making, persistent focus, and mutual cooperation. It goes without saying, success of this magnitude is only possible with the help of a capable & motivated and dependable team of faculty and non-teaching staff members. Way to shine – you have nailed it. FCIT would continue to strive towards becoming one of the finest institutions of higher learning in computing, Insha’Allah.

The remarkable guidance and unwavering support of top management especially by the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, enabled FCIT in returning to its glory of the past, THANK YOU, SIR.

You would be glad to learn the following:

1-      As the outcome of the successful field audit visit by the accreditation inspection committee (AIC) held on January 22, 2024, our BS degree programs (CS, SE, and IT) have been accredited by National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) – Higher Education Commission (HEC). More precisely, our batches of Fall 2020 and Fall 2019 have been accredited. Please find the official letters dated June 26, 2024 issued by NCEAC, attached to this email.

1a- Alhamdolillah, all three programs have been awarded Category-X, please find attached “Most Recent Batch Fall 2020 and X Category of Accreditation - FCIT.pdf”.

2-     Furthermore, on April 3, 2024 a request of blanket accreditation of previous batches was made to NCEAC. You would be pleased to hear that NCEAC has granted a blanket accreditation for our batches of Fall 2018, Fall 2017, Fall 2016, and Fall 2015 of BS CS, SE, and IT degree programs.

3-     Moreover, NCEAC has allowed to admit three sections in each accredited degree program, for the Academic Year 2024-2025.

Punjab University Department of Computer Science’s Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad HassanKhan recently presented his latest research at 9th international conference

Punjab University Department of Computer Science's Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Hassan Khan recently presented his latest research at 9th international conference on Multimedia System and Signal Processing held at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. This prestigious conference published by ACM and focused on various issues of Multimedia Systems and Signal Processing in which Dr. Khan addressed the significant topic of Deepfakes detection. In his talk, Dr. Khan highlighted the issue of Deepfakes in media industry. Deepfakes are synthetically generated images or videos in which a person’s body parts (e.g., face) are replaced with someone else. Such visual content can be used to easily deceive human beings. Hence, it becomes very difficult to distinguish between the real and the bogus content by having a glimpse of the images. In his research, Dr. Khan has presented a framework to automatically detect the fakeness in digital images. His proposed methodology is based on a simple yet effective deep learning model for the detection of falseness in the images precisely and efficiently. Dr. Khan thank the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood and Dean Faculty of Computing & Information Technology Prof. Dr. Shahzad Sarwar at University of the Punjab, for their support to conduct this research. This research was partially supported by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan within the NRPU project “HumCare: Human Activity Analysis in Healthcare” (grant number: 15041).
