Here is a brief description of Microsoft Office 365 and how to avail of its online subscription.

Microsoft 365, formerly Office 365, is a line of subscription services offered by Microsoft that includes the Microsoft Office product line. Microsoft Office 365 suite is that Microsoft provides the cloud service and, thus, eliminates a company’s IT maintenance tasks, such as patching and infrastructure support costs. The advantage is accessing Office 365 offerings using any device anywhere with an internet connection.

What University Offers?

The University of Punjab offers office 365 services to its Academia through an IT center. IT center plays a vibrant and dynamic role in handling the creation of usernames and passwords. Users can access through credentials information will be used to access the office 365 services.

How to access office 365 services?

The user can visit https://www.office.com to sign-in and key in username and password and enjoy office 365 services.

How to register?

The interested faculty members (regular) need to provide PU domain email and other related information to avail of office 365 services. This information shall be forwarded to Director IT, University of the Punjab for further action. The faculty members are requested to follow the link below.

Eduroam

Eduroam (short form of education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. Eduroam allows students, researchers, and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptops.

Having started in Europe, Eduroam has gained momentum throughout the world and education community, it is now available in over 100 territories. Eduroam is available in thousands of locations across over 100 countries worldwide, from campuses to coffee shops.

This network in Pakistan is provided to all public sector universities through HEC. Eduroam hotspot umbrella of infrastructures covers all prominent Varsities of Pakistan around all provinces. This helps to connect all researchers around the globe.

Why do you prefer Eduroam?

Eduroam allows any user from an Eduroam participating site to get network access at any institution connected to Eduroam. Depending on local policies at the visited institution, Eduroam participants may also have additional resources at their disposal. Sign in once and access wherever you are.

The user credentials are kept secure because Eduroam does not share them with the site you’re visiting. Instead, they are forwarded to the user’s home institution, where they can be verified and validated.

Eduroam is based on the most secure encryption and authentication standards in existence today. Its security by far exceeds typical commercial hotspots.

How to Register?

Respected faculty members need to provide CNIC and other related information., “CNIC” shall be used as user ID, This information shall be forwarded to Director IT,  University of the Punjab, for further action. The interested faculty member follows the link below to avail of this facility.

2-Step Verification Procedure for Email

How To Turn ON 2-Step Verification

 

    • Open Manage your Google Account.

 

    • In the navigation panel, select Security.

    • Under “Signing in to Google,” select 2-Step Verification.

 

 

    • Get Started.

 

    • First, verify it’s you.

 

Now, you have to follow three simple steps for implementing the 2-step Verification.

    • (i) Enter your Phone Number, select the option How do you want to get the code and click NEXT

 

    • (ii) Confirm that it works by entering the code you just got on your phone and click NEXT

 

    • (iii) Now, it is confirmed and you can click the TURN ON

    • Now, you can see 2-step Verification is ON and phone number is

 

 

    • Finally, you will get an E-mail which says 2-Step Verification turned on.

If you need a sound system for a session of academic activity, you can have it by filling a “Sound System Reservation Form” and submitting the same to the office of Program Coordination Officer.
